"End of the Season"
Well, another year is over as our Tottenham hope were raised and then ultimately dashed. I must say that this time it feels a little different. We finally have a management structure that will create the right culture of success at our club. We have a group of players, most of whom are in their early 20s, that will get better and better with time. We have rid the club of many of those who carried the old culture of money first, success second. Our time is near.
In some ways Spur's bright future is reflected in our New York supporters club. Three years ago we were a small group of about half a dozen who barely new each other. Less than a year after gaining our official status we have 40-50 fans coming down regularly for games. We have a large number of members who are recent transfers from London and an equally large number of American supporters who for one reason or another follow the original team of north London. We have a web site that will attract well over a million hits this year to become the most popular supporters club message board in North America.
Next year we need to take these solid beginnings to the next level. Of the highest priority is a permanent home. Pubs which don't show all 7am setanta games are impossible as a base and Nevada Smith's is just too tricky a situation. Whoever lead us next will no doubt make this issue a priority.
I would like to thank all the Spurs fans in New York city for making our first year such a success. There is nothing like walking into a pub and seeing loads of Spurs mates before watching Spurs thrashing yet another side. Where there were 5 there are now 50. A particular word of thanks must go to our UK message board contributors and hosts when we are back for games. Mr C has gone above and beyond the call of duty (and thanks to Phil for the tickets). We are indebted.
Come on you Spurs.
